90TH ANNIVERSARY CHAMPIONSHIP SHOW AND FUN DAY HELD AT THE KENNEL CLUB BUILDING, STONELEIGH ON SUNDAY 22 SEPTEMBER 2019
Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate this 90th Anniversary show with us . We had a really good entry with over 60 dogs listed in the catalogue and even more spectator dogs (including a couple of honorary Dandies) joining in the fun. Can I just say how wonderful it was to see so many non showing Dandie loving spectators sitting around the hall. Thank you so much you really made the day that little bit extra special.
Mark Ord did an excellent job judging – was kind to the dogs and considerate of the exhibitors which was very much appreciated. He found his Best in Show in Beverley Deacon’s Ch Am Gr Ch Pennywise on the Road Again. Reserve BIS and Best Bitch Ch Hawkesmill Jenny for Wilmit owned by Barbara Milton. Best Veteran was Jenny’s Mother my Ch Aus Ch Jollygaze Hopeless Romantic for Hawkesmill. Best Puppy Partoncourt Show Me Heaven bred by Liz Jacka Slater and Best Opposite Jackie Shore’s Swanwillow The Skipper.
I really must say thank you to Jane Withers our super steward and her co steward Jane Curtis (Skye Terriers) who kept everyone in order and the ring running super smooth.
Meriel France organised an hilarious Grand Sausage Race. I don’t know who had more fun the dogs the owners or the spectators !! I should point out here that the sausages were not just any old sausage but Taylor’s of Selkirk exclusive Dandie Dinmont sausages. Very generously bought and cooked by Shona & Kenny Allen who drove all the way up to Selkirk to buy them.
Before this Anne Rayner, ably assisted by Liz Magnus (who is owned by Ignatius D Dinmont), had brought along a course for spectators and exhibitors alike to “Have A Go at Rally”. This was a fun course which involved an egg and spoon race. I hope some of you will consider looking a bit more closely at this relatively new sport it’s a good bit of fun for you and your Dandie to enjoy Based along the lines of agility but much better for your Dandie’s long back.
Maisie Allenby introduced a couple of younger members to Handling in the form of a mini ring craft lesson which I think went down well indeed and hopefully has given them the confidence to go a little further.
Farmers Fayre provided a BBQ subsidised by the club for anyone who wanted to join in. It is just a shame the weather didn’t oblige but I think everyone who took advantage enjoyed it.
The raffle table was again heaving with some excellent prizes the star of which a bottle of very posh champagne and champagne truffles donated by Liz Jacka Slater. This was won by Heidi Allenby who was having a very good day.
Thanks also to Laura Noble for the delicious home made lemon cake expertly decorated with Dandies by her step daughter Kirsty. Glen Tinsley donated the bottles of champagne to toast the day.
Thank you to Jeanne Edwards, our Raffle Ticket Seller Extraordinaire. I don’t think many of you didn’t get to meet her and buy a raffle ticket
I should also say we had some very distinguished spectators at the show – Liz Carteledge from Ryslip, Bas Bosch (Bardolynns Dandies) came all the way from Belgium for the show and Di Johnson of the famous Dicarl Great Danes
I cannot close without saying a special thank you to Jenny Holmes for stepping in at the last minute and very ably serving bacon baps, teas and coffees all day!
