Dandie Dinmont Terriers have been an endangered breed for quite some time, so Dandie puppies are quite rare and – not surprisingly – finding a pup can be a challenge.
But do not despair, despite their low numbers, puppies do regularly become available in small numbers and breeders are always looking for good homes. If you are seriously considering adding a Dandie Dinmont to your household – we are here to help. We always welcome new owners and are confident that once you have experienced this magical breed, you will become a total convert and a Dandie enthusiast.
Before you get carried away picturing muddy walks and cosy evenings with a Dandie curled up at your feet, remember that a dog is a lifelong commitment, not just a seasonal impulse. As the old saying goes: a dog is for life, not just for Christmas.
If you haven’t already, we strongly recommend taking a look at The Kennel Club’s guidance on getting a dog – it covers everything from finding the right dog and how to care for it to the all-important question of whether you’re actually ready for one. Our code of ethics and conduct (pages 5–7) also provides helpful insight into responsible breeding and ownership, ensuring that both puppies and owners get the very best start together.
We don’t know of any puppies looking for a new home at the moment, but please complete our puppy enquiry form and return it to Sheila Rolland, our Puppy Co-ordinator (details below), if you’re looking for a pup. You can also contact her if you have puppies for sale.
