It was a great honour for me to be asked to judge the Southern Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club Open Show. My hubby and I were looked after so well by this friendly club, and what a lovely atmosphere and friendly exhibitors who clapped every class. As a non-specialist I’m not going to criticize, I’m only judging from the standard and in fact I was very impressed with all your dogs so at the end of the day this is only my opinion.

Thank to my lovely, friendly Stewards M Russell, M Poole and M Drake, the three ‘Ms’, I hope I got your names correct, thank you for sorting me out.

Best Dog	Simpson’s Dandiroyal Dream Catcher

Novice Dog	1st: Hoskisson & Hinds’s Lenacourt Laird Rannech Pepper 2-year-old dog, head of good type, eye colour correct good bone and feet, good topline, moved both ways with ease. You will have some fun with him.
Postgraduate Dog	1st: Baker & Denton’s Cloverwood’s Storm Shadow 23 month old Pepper, very smart young dog, good breed type, correct in front, good shoulders, flexible in body, moved well both ways with drive like to see him mature a bit more.
	2nd: Harcourt-Morris’s Dainty Dandies Explorer at Lenacourt When the class came into the ring, I thought wow what a stunner on the table; he was everything in my mind screams Dandie, stunning head of correct type, good bone standing on good feet. Correct in Topline, but then on the floor he was not happy moving and played his handler up but done enough for second place. I spoke to his owner afterwards and when he got home he was ill so obviously something was coming on then, hope he gets better asap.
	3rd: Mills’s Lairdship Larger Than Life
	Res: Marber’s Maganbar Golden Nugget I don’t usually write on 4th, but I just got to today; this was a 9 year old shown with help by 94 year young lady and she was a wonderful person and deserved the clapping she got. Thank you so much, you made my day and this is what the hobby’s all about xx.
Limit Dog	1st: Simpson’s Dandiroyal Dream Catcher Pepper, very eye-catching dog in good colour and correct jacket, well domed head, ears of good length, correct bite with big teeth, correct in front, very good bone and feet with thick pads, good in rib, moved with drive both ways. Best Dog and Reserve BIS.
	2nd: Kenyon’s Ceilmear Close Encounter 4 year old dog, Mustard, another in very crisp jacket and undercoat, a lot to like about him, similar to first but today 1 was better in presentation.
	3rd: Marber’s Maganbar Golden Nugget
Open Dog	1st: Wheeler’s Lenacourt Laird Lochy Pepper, loved his head, neat ears, correct eye colour, good bite, very similar to limit winner in shape and make, correct shoulders leading into good rib, good tail and set, another that moved well, liked him a lot. Reserve Best Dog.
	2nd: Marber’s Maganbar Golden Nugget
Veteran Dog	1st: Webber’s Lilyphanie Great Showman 7 year old young Mustard lad, lovely to go over; I just love this breed the eyes say it all, still got his head type, with correct bite enjoyed his day out, still moves well and in good jacket. Best Veteran in Show.
	2nd: Marber’s Maganbar Golden Nugget
Minor Puppy Bitch	1st: Mills’s Lairdship Lickety Split Absolutely a stunning Pepper puppy of quality at 8 months old, lovely shape all over, good head, dark hazel eyes, strong bite and jaw, correct front in good jacket, moved fore and aft like if she been at it for years; in my many years of judging I can see a very bright future for her. Best Puppy in Show.
	2nd: Davies’s Oonagh z Roxburku Sun to Bettyhill 7 month old young lady, Mustard, loved her head, the gorgeous eyes. At this stage she not up to first today but she is young and matures could change places, needed a new jacket but I loved her to good luck.
Junior Bitch	1st: Kenyon’s Puddockswell Cox’s Pippin 13 months old Mustard, good in head, lovely silky covering, head of good size, neat in ears, dark eyes, good bite, correct front, deep chest, standing on good padded feet so essential on a working terrier, body of good length. Moved well.
	2nd: Poole’s Redgreet Parsley 1 year old in her undergarments today, so in one way you can see her good shape for her age, very feminine and moved well, would like to see her again in full coat.
Novice Bitch	1st: Kenyon’s Puddockswell Cox’s Pippin
	2nd: Poole’s Dryfevalley Matilda For me today just preferred overall of first today but can change places on a different day and deserved second place, like to see her again as she a good type bitch.
	3rd: Jenkins’s Diddimont Patronas Charm
Postgraduate Bitch	1st: Redman’s Puddockswell Little Fig 2 year old Pepper, another very smart bitch, very workmanlike, neat head, correct bite strong underjaw, good in front, leading to strong neck, good length in body, leading to a strong backend that helped her move, so well unlucky to meet limit bitch today. Reserve Best Bitch.
	2nd: Sharman’s Dentgate Rose Mustard, went over well on the table but was not happy on the move, so could not asses movement but you always take the best one home.
Limit Bitch	1st: Davies & Kettle’s Calmarlin Memento Vita Before I start my critique as I said on the day this was a class of three winners, WOW that’s how I started my notes a stunning mustard young lady of immense quality screams Dandie, lovely feminine head, bright eyes of very good color, v shaped ears of correct length, strong underjaw with big teeth, correct in front, well padded feet, muscular neck leading in to good and correct shoulders, strong in loin with slight rise, her movement was poetry in motion, she floated around the ring; I never say this lightly but she must be destined for the upper house. BEST IN SHOW.
	2nd: Simpson’s Diddimont I Have A Dream And what a dream she is, Pepper, another I loved; today she pushed one very hard as very similar critique as above, one just had the edge on movement, thank you for bringing her under me.
	3rd: Fray’s Woodfud Winters Dream
Open Bitch	1st: Bainbridge’s Lairdship Labour Of Love 5 year old Pepper, young lady, feminine head , good shape body, need of a new jacket but can feel the texture, move out and back well and handled well, thank you for bringing her.
Veteran Bitch	1st: Bainbridge’s Ceilmear’s White Star Beauty 8 year old, looking good for her age and was in correct jacket, good head shape still with correct bite, good feet, enjoyed herself, moved with ease. I love the oldies.
