Stud dog register

The Southern Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club maintains a stud dog register to support responsible, welfare-led breeding of this rare native breed.

The register lists stud dogs whose owners are committed to:

  • Royal Kennel Club registration
  • Appropriate health testing
  • Careful, considered breeding decisions

To protect members’ privacy and the welfare of the breed, the full register is only available to club members.

Making an enquiry

If you are planning a litter and would like to be put in touch with suitable stud dog owners:

  1. Contact the club via email at: enquiries@southerndandies.com
  2. Provide the following basic information:
    • Your name and contact details
    • Details of the bitch you plan to mate (age, registration status, health tests)
    • Expected timing of the mating
  3. The club will review your enquiry to ensure all relevant information is provided and that the planned mating meets basic health, welfare and breed standards.
  4. Once confirmed, the enquiry is forwarded confidentially to appropriate stud dog owners, who remain free to accept or decline as they wish.

Please note: the club does not select or recommend individual dogs. Screening is only to ensure that the enquiry is suitable for responsible breeding and that owners have the information they need to make their own decisions. SDDTC neither recommends, approves, promotes nor endorses any dog on the stud dog register, nor any bitch that is subject of an enquiry.

Membership and enquiries

The stud dog register is maintained primarily for the benefit of club members, and the club normally only facilitates introductions between members.

Non-members are welcome to contact the club with enquiries which will be considered on a case-by-case basis. In some circumstances, we may suggest joining the club to ensure full access to the register and support for responsible breeding.
